All right, you’re confirmed now. Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy…whatever it is I’m doing here.
Thanks for Subscribing
Hey, thanks for subscribing to the blog! I’m going to level with you: I don’t know why you did so. But I do appreciate it, and I’ll do my best to now waste your time. At least, not beyond the constraints of the blog.
You should get a confirmation email for your subscription, and it won’t be active until you deal with that.
The Site is Back
It’s been true, over the course of Five Songs history, that I’ve posted “we’re back!!!” on multiple occasions. And, sometimes that’s true, sometimes less so. This time around, though, it’s more of a technical sense than anything else. My other blog, House of Slack Games was hacked, probably due to an old version of Ghost. I decided I was sick of dealing with that kind of thing, security updates, things of that nature, and rebuilt it using a static site generator. Well, I don’t really want to run two blog systems, so I rebuilt this site as well.
[Read More]Where is Five Songs?
Well, right now, Five Songs is on hopefully a brief hiatus. Amazon has shut down their music locker service, and downloading all that junk has taken time. And, somehow, I ended up with about 5k extra songs in the process. So, I’ve written a script to walk the library, look for anomalies, call into the Discogs API…look, it’s complicated. Once I get the library cleaned up, I’ll need to get a new solution put together for streaming it, and then I can resume. Sorry, everybody. I know this is the only source of music on the Internet, and it kills me to disappoint you all. You’ll have to, like, talk to your friends and family or something.
Five Songs Intro
Since nobody is reading this blog, I don’t think anybody is going to care if I branch out beyond just the game design things I’ve been posting (which nobody reads). So, today, I’m going to start a daily-ish series that will, if nothing else, provide more things for nobody to read. I’m pumped!
ConsimWorld is a gaming community that I’ve been part of for a really long time, long enough to meet several good friends. One of those good friends has a folder where we just discuss things. A frequent topic is music, and a frequent game is to list the last five songs that shuffling your music collection produces. I usually participate in that, and usually try and provide links to the songs as well as some commentary on them. I think the commentary is often mundane, is probably of interest only to me, and likely isn’t well-written. So, what am I going to do? I’m going to hoist it into visibility, where more people can be exposed to it. In the theoretical case where people actually read this, of course.
